Live-in Care
Home is where the heart is and Live-in care can provide you with a real alternative to a residential or nursing home.
Your carer lives with you in your home and provides you with 24/7 support, enabling you to stay in your own home and continue with your daily routine. Live-in care can be provided on a permanent or temporary basis in Poole, Bournemouth, Dorchester, and throughout Dorset. If you are looked after by a family member who needs a holiday or if you need help following a stay in hospital Essential can provide a carer to live with you during that time.
But isn’t it expensive?
Consider the service you will receive from a live-in carer and compare this with the cost of a residential home. A care home in Dorset could cost in excess of £1,000 per week. The cost of live-in care will depend on the level of care needed but Essential can provide care from a little over £100 a day.

In some circumstances you may qualify for NHS Continuing Health Care, this is a package of services funded by NHS and is not means tested. Not everyone who has ongoing health needs will qualify for funding but there are times when this should be considered:

• If you have a rapidly deteriorating condition which may be terminal.
• When your personal care needs are reviewed.
• When you are about to be discharged from hospital, particularly if you may need permanent, full-time care at home.

What will the carer
actually do?
That is the beauty of live-in care – you get to choose exactly what the carer does for you. We will work with you to ensure that your needs and wishes are at the heart of everything the carer does for you. You may decide you need help with personal care such as washing, bathing, dressing or undressing and our carers are fully trained to assist you with these tasks. You may need help with getting around in the home or out of doors.

Our trained carers can assist you with your meal preparation and take the time to cook what you want, when you want it. They can also help to maintain your skin integrity and assist with any bladder or incontinence issues that you may have. Our carers can help you with housework, cooking, shopping and looking after your pet. If it is important to you it is important to us.

Where will my carer stay?
Your carer will need their own bedroom with a comfortable bed, an easy chair and a TV so that they can have some personal space and can be comfortable in your home.
